This past weekend San Antonio BBYO hosted their annual Beau Sweetheart Dance, honoring the year’s outgoing Beau and Sweetheart Ben Deschner and Shiri Kboudi. As the Beau or Sweetheart, these teens become a member of the opposite gender chapter where they help share their perspective and leadership.
Not only do they provide support to their respective chapters, but to the entire local BBYO organization as well. As the City Director, I had the privilege of working with Ben and Shiri who assisted with recruiting new members and providing continuous outreach to all the members in each chapter – both active as well as those who were not as active – to increase engagement in the many activities throughout the year. I truly appreciated all their support and enthusiasm for San Antonio BBYO which made every member in both the girls and boys chapter even more aware and proud of what BBYO has to offer to each individual member.
Here’s what Ben Beau and Shiri Sweetheart had to say about their experiences being this year’s Beau and Sweetheart.
Ben Beau writes:
“Serving as Beau of Sababa BBG this year has been an incredible experience. It is a wonderful thing to be embraced by such a unique, exciting group of girls. I was honored to be able to brag across the country and international order that these girls chose me as their beau and I was welcome as a part of their amazing chapter. Sababa gave me a better year than I could have imagined and I thank them for all the memories they gave me. I will never forget the times we shared and I hope [they] continue to make the most of BBYO."
Shiri Sweetie reflects:
“My year being Sweetheart was in fact the most memorable and rewarding year of my life! I have made very strong bonds with the boys in Erich Weiss AZA that I will cherish forever. I've seen this chapter flourish to the highest levels and I am so humbled to be a part of this chapter. Together we have spent so many memorable moments that I know will last us a lifetime. I am so proud of Erich Weiss winning AZAA for 6 consecutive years and the fraternity gavel as well! Today, not only do I call these boys my friends, but my family.”
San Antonio BBYO would like to give a big thank you to Ben Beau and Shiri Sweetie on a job well done engaging with their respective chapters this past year. While you both will be sorely missed, we wish each of you well on your next steps.
At the same time, we are proud to announce our new Beau Micky Wolf and Sweetheart Kayla Barshop. We look forward to next year and all the ideas and activities that you both will bring to our chapters and to San Antonio. Mazol Micky and Kayla!
