THE ARABIAN NIGHTS
A poetic fable by Mary Zimmerman
October 21st - November 13th
“A celebration of the power of storytelling” – New York Times
King Shahryar marries, loves, then kills, a young woman each night- until he encounters Scheherazade. To save her life, she entertains the King with tales of love, lust, hilarity, and sorrow for a thousand and one nights. Her ancient tales magically transform the stage from a king's bedroom in Baghdad through markets, harems, courts, and a crowded privy, and from heights of hilarity to sobering affirmations of shared humanity.
Tickets on sale beginning Tuesday, September 21.
UNNECESSARY FARCE
A ridiculously funny comedy by Paul Slade Smith
February 3rd - February 27th
“A smash hit! Two hours of non-stop laughter.” – CBS
Two cops. Three cooks. Eight doors. Go. A sting operation has been set up in adjoining rooms at a cheap motel to catch the perpetrators of an embezzlement scheme. Two inexperienced officers set out to catch the criminal and get caught, themselves, in a whirlwind of hilarity. Slamming doors, sexual innuendos, and a Scottish hit man, complete with kilt and bagpipes, add to the Marx Brothers-esque mix-ups and mayhem.
Directed by Matthew Byron Cassi
Tickets on sale beginning Monday, January 3.
ASSASSINS
A controversial musical by Sondheim and Weidman
May 5th - June 5th
“difficult and provocative… a breakthrough musical” – New York Times
Bold, original, surreal, disturbing, thought-provoking, and alarmingly funny, Assassins is perhaps the most contentious musical ever written. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, this dark musical bends the rules of time and lays bare a roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact, and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.
Tickets on sale beginning Tuesday, April 5.
