Lifeguard Class click here for Registration
This class is a 26 hour course and participants must attend all days scheduled. The fee includes all materials for the class, as well as certifies the participant in American Red Cross CPR/AED/ First Aid, and Life Guarding after successfully passing all tests with a minimum score of 80% and demonstrating skills appropriately. Must be at least 15 years old on or before the final day of course. Bring swimsuit, towel, pen, and all materials issued the 1st day of class.
All participants must provide a current e-mail, (The American Red Cross sends the certifications electronically to those participants who successfully pass the course)
All participants must successfully complete the following prerequisites the 1st day of class.
1. Swim 300 meters continuously, using these strokes in the following order
100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing
100 yards of breaststroke using pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence
100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke
2. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breast stroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
3. Tread water for 2 minutes with arms up (using legs only).

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Class click here for Registration
This class is a 30-hour course and participants must attend all days scheduled. Must be at least 16 years old on or before the final day of course. This class certifies the participants to teach the Learn to swim program, water babies, and whales tales. The fee includes all materials for the class as well as certifies the participants as American Red Cross WSI's after successfully passing all tests with 80% or better. Bring swimsuit, towel, pen, and all materials issued the 1st day of class.

CPR/AED/First Aid and Lifeguard Recertification Course click here for registration
The recertification classes are for current lifeguards whose card is almost expired. The class will include a review session and written and swim scenario tests. Bring swimsuit, towel, and pen.

All Classes will be held at the JCC except for one day of the lifeguard class, which will be held at a pool with a deep end. Location and date to be determined.
