Parenting Classes at the JCC

Stand Up Against Bullying
As young children grow and interact with their peers, they will encounter "bullying" type behaviors and possibly use these behaviors themselves. It is the parent's job to guide young children to get along with their peers in healthy ways. In this workshop, participants will dissect all roles of bullying behaviors, including the bystanders. They will discuss ways to prevent your child from using bullying tactics and empower children when they encounter bullying behaviors using the book The Bully, the Bullied, and the Bystander by Barbara Coloroso.

Social Skills 102: Beyond "Please" and "Thank You"
Social skills are essential to one's Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Often children are told to "listen", "share" or "get along." We may think of these as simple instructions, but every social skill requires several steps. In this workshop, we will unpack some basic social skills to reveal their specific actions. You will leave with playful ideas to help your children enjoy and practice their new skills.
