Resumption of Services

For the Safety of our Members and Staff: We are counting on our Members to self-screen before coming to the JCC. When you are not feeling well, are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, or have been exposed to someone with those symptoms, PLEASE STAY HOME. We will be happy to welcome you back once you are symptom-free and feeling better!

The JCC continues to create a series of modified schedules and best practices to resume services at our fitness center, swimming pool, and tennis courts providing members with opportunities to resume select recreational and fitness activities under new health and safety guidelines provided by local public and health authorities.

For the Health and Wellbeing of our JCC Members, Thank You in advance for acknowledging and following our new practices. We realize that these guidelines are different and more stringent than what you are used to, and hope you understand that they are necessary in order to provide our members with as safe environment as possible for them to return. We Thank You in Advance for your cooperation, flexibility, understanding, and patience.

Health and Safety Practices

  • Members are advised to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and should avoid visiting the JCC when symptoms exist or if they have been exposed to someone who has symptoms or has tested positive for Covid-19. 
  • Members access the facility through the Main Entrance (NW Military side near flag poles). All other entrances are closed.
  • Members must wear a mask upon entry and in common spaces, sanitize hands, practice physical distancing, and be prepared to have their temperature taken.
  • Temperature must be 100 degrees or below for admittance.
  • Members will be reminded to practice physical distancing and hand sanitizing practices via signage and staff instruction in all areas of the JCC.

General Practices: Until Further Notice 

  • To access sports and recreation facilities, members must reserve a specific time slot in advance via our Online Reservation Platform.
  • Time slots are set for a specific amount of time per facility. 
  • Only one reservation per facility per day. 
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and are only permitted entry into the building if participating in family swim (unless enrolled in a JCC childcare or camp program).
  • Babysitting services are not available. 
  • Members should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to reservation. We recommend you stay in your vehicle until that time.
  • All Members must check in with key card or Mobile App.
  • Showers and dressing areas are closed; locker room access will be limited to restroom and sink area only.
  • Water bottle fillers are available; drinking fountains have been deactivated.
  • Be prepared to exit promptly at the end of your workout/activity and exit the building promptly.
  • Guests are prohibited at this time.
  • Cancel reservations online or by calling 210-302-6820.
  • Failure to adhere to JCC protocols may result in a suspension of services.

Staff Practices

  • Staff wear masks in all public areas.
  • Staff’s temperature is taken each day upon arrival.
  • High-touch areas are cleaned and sanitized throughout the day and overnight.
  • Staff clean each piece of equipment between usages.
  • Staff closely manage and monitor member usage to ensure physical distancing guidelines are being followed.

Additional protocols specific to individual areas (listed below) will also be in place. Please familiarize yourself with these practices to prepare for your visit.


JCC Fitness Center- Adults only

  • Fitness Center reservations must be made in advance. Reservations open at 8pm two days prior.
  • Total workout time is 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  • Practice Physical Distancing while working out, stay 6 feet apart.
  • Members must wear face masks in the fitness center; and may choose whether or not to wear masks during their exercise regimen.
  • Consider wearing athletic gloves as an extra precaution.
  • Bring your own work out towel.
  • Access to equipment is subject to physical distancing guidelines and cleaning protocols.
  • Cardio workouts - 30 minutes maximum.
  • Free weights – check in with Fitness Attendant to sign up for equipment.
  • Clean and wipe down equipment following your workout; staff will follow-up with a second cleaning.
  • Locker room access is limited to restroom and sink area only.

JCC Lap Swim- Adults only

Due to high demand and to accommodate more of our members who wish to swim, we will be re-introducing lane sharing effective Thursday, July 16, under safe and practical protocols. When you come to the pool, be prepared to share a lane with another member with the following practices in place:

  • Shared lane swimmers will start at opposite sides of each lane.
  • If you arrive after another swimmer has begun, wait until they are at the opposite side of the lane before beginning your laps.
  • Exit the pool on the same side you began.
  • Swimmers in the same household, please be prepared to share your lane with each other:

The following protocols also remain in effect:

  • Reservations to Lap swim must be made in advance.
  • Reservations open at 8pm two days prior.
  • Practice Physical Distancing; stay 6 feet apart.
  • Bring your own towels and pool equipment.
  • Total workout time is 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  • Locker room access is limited to restroom and sink area only.
  • Be prepared to finish promptly at the end of your reserved time and exit the facility.
  • Face masks are required when re-entering the facility following your swim time.
  • NOTE: The pool will be closed during and 30 minutes following inclement weather/lightning.

JCC Recreational/Family Swim Practices: Delayed until further notice. 
Parents must supervise children at all times
Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 +.

  • To access Recreational/Family Swim facilities, members must reserve a time slot in advance via our Online Reservation Platform.
  • Time slots are for 1 hour and 30 minutes. 
  • All attendees must be members of the JCC; and will need to be checked in upon arrival.
  • Reservations will be available beginning at 8pm 2 days prior.
  • Reservations will open on Monday, June 29 for time slots beginning July 1.
  • Space for families with more than 6 members is subject to some limitations; for parties of 6+ people, make your online reservation and then call 210-302-6820 to confirm availability.
    Recreational Swim Reservations include access to:
    • Designated shared/safely distanced areas
    • The Beach Front area and training pool.
    • Splash Pad during select hours (see schedule below). Lifeguards will manage Splash Pad access with a maximum of 10 children at a time for 25 minute intervals.
  • Use of Lap Lanes is not included with Family Recreational Swim reservation. A separate reservation must be made for lap lane usage.
  • Social distancing of 6 feet will be in effect. Only members of the same family should be in closer proximity.
  • To ensure safe physical distancing protocols, the pool deck will have designated areas equipped with seating for each family. Chairs must remain in close proximity to their designated space.
  • No floats or oversize swim toys allowed.

Recreational/ Family Swim Hours (Effective: July 1, 2020)

Monday – Thursday

  • 4:30 - 6pm
  • 6:15 - 7:45pm


  • 4:00 – 5:30pm

*Saturday and Sunday 

  • 9:15 - 10:45am
  • 11:00am - 12:30pm
  • 12:45 - 2:15pm
  • 2:30 - 4:00pm
  • 4:15 - 5:45pm

*Splash Pad will be available during these same hours except on weekends when it opens at 10am. 

JCC Tennis Practices:

  • Tennis reservations may be made up to TWO days in advance.
  • Only one reservation per facility per day. Tennis time slots are set for 1 hour 30 minutes of court time per day. Only one reservation is allowed/needed per group. 
  • Members must check-in at Tennis Clubhouse with key card or Mobile App. Aside from check-in, clubhouse will not be available for socializing or gathering.
  • Members must wear masks, practice physical distancing, sanitize hands, and be prepared to have temperature taken upon entering the clubhouse. You will need to answer these two questions:
    • Do you have any symptoms of COVID-19?
    • Have you been around anyone with symptoms of COVID-19?
  • Temperature must be 100 degrees or below for admittance.
  • Guests and non-playing spectators will not be allowed.
  • Stay at least 6 feet apart from players. Avoid physical contact including shaking hands or a high fives.
  • Players should stay on their side of the court, avoid changing ends, and remain apart during breaks.
  • Consider wearing athletic gloves as an extra precaution.
  • Bring your own can of balls and mark each ball with your initials.
  • Do not share racquets or any other equipment such as wristbands, grips, hats, and towels.
  • Avoid using hands to pick up the balls: Use your racquet/foot to pick up balls and hit them to your opponent. If a ball from another court comes to you, send it back with a kick or with your racquet.
  • Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc. if you can. 
  • Avoid touching your face especially after handling a ball, racquet or other equipment.
  • Clean and wipe down your equipment, including racquets and water bottles.
  • Access restrooms through the outside doors.
  • Be prepared to exit promptly at the end of your reserved time and exit the courts through the turnstile.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after coming off the court.
  • Cancel reservations online or by calling 210-302-6833 10 hours in advance of scheduled court time.
  • After three (3) no-shows or lack of cancellation, reservation privileges may be suspended.
