Resumption of Services & Health Protocols

For the Safety of our Members and Staff: We are counting on the community to self-screen before coming to the JCC. When you are not feeling well, are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, or have been exposed to someone with those symptoms, PLEASE STAY HOME. We will be happy to welcome you once you are symptom-free and feeling better!

We are thrilled to see members returning to the JCC to utilize a series of phased in select programs and services. THANK You FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT and cooperation in adhering to our health and safety protocols and best practices under new guidelines provided by local public and health authorities.

Please review our protocols below:

General Health and Safety Practices

  • Members and Program Participants are advised to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and should avoid visiting the JCC when symptoms exist or if they have been exposed to someone who has symptoms or has tested positive for Covid-19. 
  • Members and Program Participants must access the facility through the Main Entrance (NW Military side near flag poles). All other entrances are closed.
  • Upon entry, masks must be worn in all common spaces, sanitize hands, practice physical distancing, and be prepared to have your temperature taken.
  • Temperature must be 100 degrees or below for admittance.
  • Additional protocols specific to individual areas (listed below) will also be in place. Please familiarize yourself with these practices to prepare for your visit.

Staff Practices

  • Staff wear masks in all public areas.
  • Staff’s temperature is taken each day upon arrival.
  • High-touch areas are cleaned and sanitized throughout the day and overnight.
  • Staff clean each piece of equipment between usages.
  • Staff closely manage and monitor member usage to ensure physical distancing guidelines are being followed.

  

 

Member Protocols: 

  • To access sports and recreation facilities, members must reserve a specific time slot in advance via our Online Reservation Platform.
  • Time slots are set for a specific amount of time per facility. 
  • Only one reservation per facility per day. 
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and are only permitted entry into the building if specifically enrolled in a JCC program.
  • Babysitting services are not available. 
  • Members should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to reservation. We recommend you stay in your vehicle until that time.
  • All Members must check in with key card or Mobile App.
  • Showers and dressing areas are closed; locker room access will be limited to restroom and sink area only.
  • Water bottle fillers are available; drinking fountains have been deactivated.
  • Be prepared to exit promptly at the end of your workout/activity and exit the building promptly.
  • Guests are prohibited at this time.
  • Failure to adhere to JCC protocols may result in a suspension of services.

Program Participation: 

  • One parent should accompany their child(ren) into the facility to check-in at the Central Information Desk for their program. Parents are asked to exit the facility until pick up to assist the JCC in managing physical distancing measures.
  • Once checked in, program participants will wait in the East Campus lobby to be escorted to their program location by JCC staff.
  • Parents will pick up their children either in front of the facility or in the main lobby at the end of their program. 

Group-Exercise

  • Reservations open at 8pm two days prior.
  • All classes will have limited enrollment to ensure physical distancing.
  • Arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to class start time.
  • Bring your own mat, towel, and water bottle. Consider wearing athletic gloves as an extra precaution.
  • Arrive dressed for class; locker room access is limited to restroom and sink area only.
  • Practice Physical Distancing; stay 6 feet apart at all times.
  • Face masks will not be required during class; but must be worn as you make your way to and from class.
  • Clean and wipe down your equipment at the end of class; staff will follow-up with a second cleaning.
  • Be prepared to exit promptly at the end of class and exit the building.

Fitness Center (Adults only):

  • Fitness Center reservations must be made in advance. Reservations open at 8pm two days prior.
  • Total workout time is 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  • Practice Physical Distancing while working out, stay 6 feet apart.
  • Members must wear face masks in the fitness center; and may choose whether or not to wear masks during their exercise regimen.
  • Consider wearing athletic gloves as an extra precaution.
  • Bring your own work out towel.
  • Access to equipment is subject to physical distancing guidelines and cleaning protocols.
  • Cardio workouts - 30 minutes maximum.
  • Free weights – check in with Fitness Attendant to sign up for equipment.
  • Clean and wipe down equipment following your workout; staff will follow-up with a second cleaning.
  • Locker room access is limited to restroom and sink area only.

Lap Swim (Adults only):

  • Reservations to Lap swim must be made in advance.
  • Reservations open at 8pm two days prior.
  • Practice Physical Distancing; stay 6 feet apart.
  • Bring your own towels and pool equipment.
  • Total workout time is 55 minutes
  • Be prepared to share lanes if needed.Swimmers in the same household, please reserve one lane and include both names in one reservation
  • Shared lane swimmers will start at opposite sides of each lane.
  • Locker room access is limited to restroom and sink area only.
  • Be prepared to finish promptly at the end of your reserved time and exit the pool area and facility.
  • Face masks are required when re-entering the facility following your swim time.
  • NOTE: The pool will be closed during and 30 minutes following inclement weather/lightning.

Gymnasium:

  • Only individuals within the same household may utilize a court at a time.
  • Online reservations may be made for up to 6 people. All individuals in your party MUST reside in your same household AND be members of the JCC.
  • For parties of 6+ people, use the system to make your online reservation and then call 210-302-6820 to confirm availability.
  • Guests are not permitted at this time.
  • Arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to reservation start time and be prepared to exit the facility at the end of your reserved time.
  • Arrive dressed to play. Locker room access is limited to restroom and sink area only.
  • Bring a water bottle. Water bottle fillers are available; drinking fountains are closed.
  • Face masks must be worn in all common spaces as you make your way to and from the gym; masks are not required during active gym time.
  • Members are encouraged to bring their own Basketball. JCC will have a limited supply of basketballs to loan out.
  • Members may only utilize the gym/court reserved and will not be permitted in any other gym/court, to join another group, or to roam the building.  Organized games are prohibited at this time.
  • Parents must remain in the Gym and actively watch children under 14.
  • No food or drinks allowed in the Gym. Covered water bottle only.
  • Staff will sanitize area after each session.

Tennis:

  • Tennis reservations may be made up to TWO days in advance.
  • Only one reservation per facility per day. Tennis time slots are set for 1 hour 30 minutes of court time per day. Only one reservation is allowed/needed per group. 
  • Members must check-in at Tennis Clubhouse with key card or Mobile App. Aside from check-in, clubhouse will not be available for socializing or gathering.
  • Members must wear masks, practice physical distancing, sanitize hands, and be prepared to have temperature taken upon entering the clubhouse. You will need to answer these two questions:
    • Do you have any symptoms of COVID-19?
    • Have you been around anyone with symptoms of COVID-19?
  • Temperature must be 100 degrees or below for admittance.
  • Guests and non-playing spectators will not be allowed.
  • Stay at least 6 feet apart from players. Avoid physical contact including shaking hands or a high fives.
  • Players should stay on their side of the court, avoid changing ends, and remain apart during breaks.
  • Consider wearing athletic gloves as an extra precaution.
  • Bring your own can of balls and mark each ball with your initials.
  • Do not share racquets or any other equipment such as wristbands, grips, hats, and towels.
  • Avoid using hands to pick up the balls: Use your racquet/foot to pick up balls and hit them to your opponent. If a ball from another court comes to you, send it back with a kick or with your racquet.
  • Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc. if you can. 
  • Avoid touching your face especially after handling a ball, racquet or other equipment.
  • Clean and wipe down your equipment, including racquets and water bottles.
  • Access restrooms through the outside doors.
  • Be prepared to exit promptly at the end of your reserved time and exit the courts through the turnstile.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after coming off the court.
  • Cancel reservations online or by calling 210-302-6833 10 hours in advance of scheduled court time.
  • After three (3) no-shows or lack of cancellation, reservation privileges may be suspended.
